Phone pics used to ID alleged thief?

An alleged robber, who reportedly broke into a woman's house and stole her handbag and other items, did not get to enjoy those items for long, as the police used information from the phone he left behind to apprehend him.

Charged with burglary and larceny is Romaine Neil, of a Maxfield Avenue address.

The allegations are that on June 26, about 10:30 p.m., the complainant awoke to find the accused in her bedroom. It is alleged that she saw him removing her handbag, a laptop and other items. The complainant made an alarm and the accused ran from the house and sprinted down the road with the stolen items.

While the accused was running, however, his cellular phone reportedly fell from his pocket and was retrieved by the complainant who gave it to the police.

The accused man's phone was searched and pictures of him were seen in the phone. These were used to identify him and he was arrested while walking along Maxfield Avenue. The accused also reportedly made several calls to the phone. The accused was granted $50,000 bail and is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on September 9.
