A man accused of beating the mother of his child with a broom, was lucky to walk free from the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last week. The accused, Oniko Henry, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. The allegations are that, on the day in question, the complainant was dealing with a dispute between the children in the house. It is alleged that she reprimanded the children, including Henry's child, and was attacked from behind by the accused, who used a broom to hit her several times across her back. When the matter came up in court last week, the complainant revealed that she did not want to pursue the matter anymore. Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey told the accused that he was lucky and told him he had no reason to hit the complainant. A no order was issued in the matter and Henry was allowed to walk free. |
