Man remanded on gun-related charges |

A St Ann man was remanded when he appeared on gun-related charges in the St Ann's Bay Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is McGiver Mcdonald, 22, unemployed of Mansfield Heights, Ocho Rios, St Ann. When the case came up before Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie, Detective Sergeant Kirk Nichols was instructed to complete the file by August 12. McDonald's attorney Oswest Senior-Smith made an unsuccessful bail application on behalf of his client. under a basement Allegations before the court are that on July 15, about 11:00 am, a police party went to McDonald's home in search of him. He was reportedly seen under a basement of a house. He was ordered out. The accused reportedly pointed a gun at a member of the police party and was subsequently shot. He was hospitalised, and upon his release, charges of assault at common-law, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition were brought against him. |
