JCDC festival finals today

Another Jamaican is set to have his or her name recorded in our music history books as the Jamaica Festival Song Finals sponsored by CLARO, unfolds at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre today before a huge gathering of music fans and supporters who are ready to crown a new musical king.

festival alumni

According to Festival Song Co-ordinator, David Reid, the 10 who have been honing their craft on road show stages across the island, are now ready to give the performance of their lives as they compete for a whopping cash prize and the coveted title which will have them join such festival alumni as Tinga Stewart, Roy Rayon, Eric Donaldson and Stanley Beckford.

"Competition is fierce this year and voting has been brisk and though some people have their opinion as to who will take it, the field is a stellar one as lyrics, creativity, stage performance and clarity will all factor into who will take it home" Reid adds.

This year, for the first time, the top 10 will be vying for the largest prize in the history of the competition that includes more than $2 million. The winner will take home $1 million from CLARO and a spanking new Nissan Tiida courtesy of Fidelity Motors. The winning song will also act as the musical backdrop for the rest of 2010 Independence celebrations.

special flavour

Title sponsor Claro will be adding their own special flavour to the evening while sound system stalwarts Swatch International will get the party started early with a pre-show event which promises to be high energy and fun for those who truly appreciate that added dimension of music mixed and delivered with flair.

The theme for the 2010 Festival Song competition is 'True Jamaican Patriot'.
