Suspended cop in custody on suspicion of robbery |

|
A suspended policeman has been taken into custody with two other men for suspicion of robbery. The cop was detained following yesterday's robbery of a cash pot establishment at Angels Plaza, St Catherine. Police said about 3 p.m. yesterday, three men went to the establishment, held a cashier at gunpoint and robbed her of an undetermined sum of money. It is said that they went into a Toyota Camry motor car and drove away. get-a-way car The police were contacted and an All Points Bulletin was placed on the car. A vehicle fitting the description of the get-a-way car was spotted in Spanish Town and reportedly intercepted. The occupants, including the policeman were detained. The cop's licensed firearm was taken from him. A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of cash, suspected to be a part of the loot. The name of the men have been withheld pending further investigations into the matter. The Star learnt that if the policeman is charged in connection with the robbery, he might also be charged with breaches of the Firearms Act. - R.T |
