Man blames victim for starting fight

A bleeding eye, a broken table, broken picture frames, and boisterous behaviour among other things, are the reasons Lennox Walker gave the court as to why he had to defend himself against the mother of his child who allegedly attacked him.

Walker initially pleaded guilty to the charge of assault occasioning bodily harm, but after he had explained to the court what he allegedly said transpired on the day of the incident, he decided upon a not guilty plea.

poked him

Walker told the court he used a piece of broken chair foot to hit the complainant after she poked him in the eye causing it to bleed.

It is reported that on the day of the incident, the complainant visited his house to drop off their son. He said when she arrived, she realised he was in his bedroom with another woman which angered her.

She began to behave boisterously and cursing loudly.

Walker claimed he told the complainant repeatedly to leave his son at the front entrance and then she should leave for work, but she refused and continued to curse.

The complainant then left the child on the front steps as Walker had requested. Walker said he went to retrieve his son and the complainant reportedly took the opportunity to enter his house and allegedly destroyed a number of items before assaulting the woman whom he was with and then injured him.

Walker had his bail extended and will return to court on September 6 when the matter will be tried in the night court. The complainant was also bound over in the matter.
