Accused granted bail |

A man accused of holding up and robbing a woman at knifepoint was granted bail when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magis-trate's Court on Wednesday. The accused, 33-year-old Ricardo Blackwood, was granted $20,000 bail and was ordered to report to the Duhaney Park Police Station on Fridays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. According to the report given by the complainant in court, she was robbed of her handbag, a cellular phone, identification cards and her gold ring that is valued at $15,000. The court was told that on Friday, August 20, the complainant was a passenger on a Coaster bus heading from Cross Roads to downtown Kingston. It was revealed that Blackwood came on the bus and sat beside her. The Weekend Star was told that a knife was held at the complainant's side she was ordered to hand over her gold ring. She complied. The court further heard that after Blackwood and the complainant exited the bus, the complainant luckily saw some police officers and told them about the incident. Blackwood, who was still in sight, was stopped by the police and searched. Neither the stolen items nor a knife was found on him. Blackwood told the police, "Mi nuh know her and mi neva tek nothing from her." Blackwood returns to court on September 17. |
