A mentally ill man who attacked his grandparents, killing his grandfather by hitting him in the head several times, and wounding his grandmother was ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluation and assessment yesterday, when he faced the court.

Charged with murder is Ricardo Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick's mother later told the court that her son suffers from mental illness and is being treated at Ward 21 at the University Hospital Of The West Indies. However, she told the court that Kirkpatrick takes his medication irregularly. Kirkpatrick was remanded into custody until September 30. He also had to submit his fingerprints to the police.
