Grandfather to receive help
CRYSTAL HARRISON, STAR WRITER

Just days after THE STAR published a story about the grandfather who has been raising seven children because of the death of both their parents, promises of help have been pouring in from people locally and overseas.

Grandfather Leon Reynolds became mother and father to the children, whose ages range from five to 20 years, after their mother Natalie Reynolds was killed by her common-law husband Hugh Wright.

Reports are that on February 14, 2007, Natalie Reynolds, 38, and mother of nine children and her common-law husband, Hugh Wright, had a long-standing feud which became physical. During the altercation, Wright allegedly hit his common-law wife with a hoe and then slashed her throat. She died on the spot. Wright reportedly hanged himself in his field the following day.

With the financial assistance from the Child Development Agency, Reynolds has been trying to raise the children.

According to Reynolds, persons have been making promises to help from as far as Canada and the US. Some have even mentioned adoption; however, he has no interest in separating the children.

Reynolds also told THE STAR that last week they began collecting some back-to-school items for the children from good Samaritans who saw the story in the paper. Anyone wishing to further help Reynolds may contact him at 464-8312.
