Five-year-old Mikhalia Johnson was rescued earlier this afternoon after the vehicle in which she was travelling was swept away in a gully at Ackee Walk in St Andrew. According to reports, about 2:15 p.m., Mikhalia, along with her mother, uncle and brother were in the vehicle when an attempt was made to cross the gully. However, they ran into difficulties and the car was washed away. The woman managed to escape. Mikhalia's uncle was in the process of removing both her and the little boy from the gushing water, when Mikhalia slipped from his grasp. The Samaritan, 21-year-old Marcus Carter of Molynes Road, St Andrew, was at home sleeping when he heard the girl screaming. Upon realising Mikhalia's plight, Carter immediately went to her assistance and managed to remove her from the water. No one was hurt in the incident. |
