Ovamarz reaches for artiste cap

Dancer Ovamarz - File

'Now You See Me Now You Don't' is the new song and dance from dancer Ovamarz.

With the attention he's been getting, the youngster from Nannyville is vowing to make 2011 a memorable year.

As with all the stuff that Marlon 'Ovamarz' Hardy creates, this dance is branded with his signature classy style, slick foot works and body movements that package it as a challenge to take on.

In a release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR, Ovamarz said, "The thing with Now You See Me Now You Don't is that just hearing the name brings a smile to people's faces. And although it may look difficult at first, it's quite easy to get the hang of it. I was in Washington in December for a few shows, including Icons and Idols, and the response to the dance was amazing."

huge spike

Recognised as being among the cream of the crop in a dancehall that has recently seen a huge spike in fertility rates as it relates to dancers, the talented youngster, who created the Nuh Linga, said he has so much more to offer.

Ovamarz recalled how he got goose pimples as he watched in almost disbelief when his creation was broadcast on television live from Beijing, China, as Usain Bolt 'Nuh Linga-ed' on the world stage and placed Ovamarz and the dance in the annals of history.

Ovamarz's subsequent emergence and the formation of his Above A Dem Dance Group, has resulted in awards and nominations which have further cemented him as the one to watch - literally and figuratively. In addition to Nuh Linga, Marz has created the Raging Bull - his first official dance - Nuh Behaviour, Step Ova and Now You See Me Now You Don't.

Ovamarz is quite excited about his latest project, not only because the dance is being hailed as slick, but also the fact that this time he is involved in both the song and the dance.

Since last year, with encouragement from his management, Celebrity Promotions, he has been giving his projects another dimension by testing out his vocal chords. He tested the waters with Nuh Behaviour and he admitted he is getting closer to the mark. It's not surprising, however, that Ovamarz chose this path, as dancehall dancers have been stepping up and taking their place on the world stage, not only as dancers, but as artistes too. Ovamarz is one dancer who has no intention of playing catch-up.

"I'm getting there," he says with a confident smile. "Now You See Me Now You Don't is getting a lot of love from radio and I feel that my career is on track. I have to thank my manager, Donna, from Celebrity Promotions, for all the hard work. But it's not in vain because 2011 is my year to shine," Ovamarz vowed.
