$300,000 bail for Walter 'Blacka' Boyd

Former national footballer Walter 'Blacka' Boyd was granted $300,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Boyd, who has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, is to return to court on March 30 when the matter will be mentioned.

Allegations are that on May 29, 2004, about 5 p.m., Boyd approached the complainant in an aggressive manner and then accused her of calling up his name.

It is also alleged that Boyd picked up a piece of block. The court heard that the block was used to hit Hall in her face causing swelling and a fracture to her eye socket.

On Boyd's previous court appearances, the court was informed that the complainant has been receiving death threats.

Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who reluctantly granted Boyd bail, ordered that as a condition of his bail, he should not to go near the complainant.

In addition, he is to report to the Half-Way Tree Police Station on Mondays and Thursdays between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.
