Jamaica pair eye late deal
André Lowe, Senior Staff Reporter

Jamaican pair Lamar Nelson and Nicholy Finlayson are reportedly on the verge of signing a last-minute deal with Norwegian First Division outfit Strommen IF, this according to their agent, Pro Goal Sports' Romel Wallen.

Wallen confirmed that the two have been on trial in Norway for a week and have both impressed the club's coaching staff. A deal is reportedly being ironed out by all parties, but with the Nowegian transfer window closing today at 5 p.m. (midnight Jamaica time), it is left to be seen whether or not a deal can be secured for the two in time.

immediate transfer

In the event that an agreement is not reached before the transfer deadline, the deal will be made in the summer instead, but Wallen is hopeful that all the details can be worked out in time to facilitate an immediate transfer.

Finlayson is currently signed to Digicel Premier League (DPL) outfit Reno and has already represented the national senior team, while Nelson represents Harbour View, also at the DPL level.

Nelson, who is regarded by some to be one of the brightest young talents in Jamaica, was a surprise omission from the national Under-20 team now in Guatemala for the CONCACAF Under-20 Championships.

Wallen said that he was happy for both players and was hopeful that the deadline would be met.

"I'm happy for a player like Nico (Finlayson), because he is the type of player who would fit in well in Europe," Wallen said.

natural footballer

"For Lamar, the boy is just a natural footballer, he can do a job for you anywhere on the field. They've both done well, so we'll see what happens this week."

Strommen IF is also home to Jamaican goalkeeper Duwayne Kerr, who recently signed a deal with the club that finished last season in seventh place.
