Man sentenced for injuring woman with stone |

|
For injuring a woman with a stone and causing a wound to her hand, a man was fined $20,000 or six months in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's court on Thursday. Neville Aiken of a Kingston 11 address was brought before the court to answer to a charge of unlawful wounding. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the defendant used a stone and hit the complainant on her hand causing a wound that bled. According to the complainant, she was at a barber shop on June 19 about 7:30 a.m. when the defendant entered the shop and asked her to pay for a haircut for him. held on to her fingers She ignored him and attempted to walk away but was prevented from doing so by the defendant who held on to her fingers. A struggle ensued between them which led the defendant to apply pressure to the complainant's fingers. She eventually broke free from his grasp and left and entered her community. However,the defendant soon caught up with her again and restrained her. She again managed to break free and informed the defendant that she was going to make a police report which led him to attack her from behind with a stone which caught her on her hand. A report was made to the Hunts Bay Police Station the following day. |
