Telecoms company launches 'Peppa' - TV with 'Hottitude'

After several weeks of high anticipation, popular daytime talk-show host, Dr Kingsley 'Ragashanti' Stewart, has returned to the Jamaican airwaves on 'Peppa' - a new channel on LIME's mobile-television network.

Stewart made his July 11 debut with Buss it Out, a dynamic television programme that airs from Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily.

The new programme format will offer heightened public interaction and feature call-in and studio guests, outside broadcasts and participation through social-media channels.

Stephen Price, LIME regional special projects manager said, "We are very proud to launch our first locally managed channel - Peppa - and we welcome Ragashanti, his exciting new television programme, and the thousands of eager viewers who will now be tuning in to the LIME Mobile-TV network."

"We recognize that popular personalities and entertaining programmes are essential to a successful television business, and there is absolutely no doubt that Ragashanti is a great fit," he added.

Price also pointed out that Ragashanti and Buss it Out are among the first of several high-impact, highly entertaining and sought-after personalities and programmes that will be introduced on the network.

"As leaders in innovation, and as we expand our foray into the business of entertainment, we are extremely excited at the endless possibilities that our mobile-television service provides," Price added.

Buss it Out,which is rated PG, will be shown exclusively on Peppa, (Channel One) on LIME's Mobile TV service.

The company has also introduced a closed-user calling group dubbed the 'Tambareen Family' that allows fans to make calls and send texts, to 'Ragga' while in studio and each other, for a monthly fee of $499. 'Tambareen Family' members can also access special discounts on Mobile TV handsets at select LIME stores.

Stewart, who is back on air for the first time in several weeks, said, "I am very pleased to be a part of the LIME Mobile TV family and to once again have an outlet to reach my fans and the public at large."

Stewart also pointed out that his loyal listeners have since migrated online to an Internet-based radio programme he started, and says it has attracted over 100,000 followers since its early June launch date.

In December 2010, telecommunications leader LIME launched Jamaica's first digital mobile-television service. Since it's highly successful introduction, the company has broadcast numerous hot-ticket events including the historic Buju Banton - 'Before the Dawn' concert in Miami Florida, 'Pretty Like a Colouring Book' - a lecture by popular dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel on the UWI campus, and the iconic Rebel Salute reggae concert.
