DISABLED GIRL CHASED, RAPED? |

|
Two teenage boys implicated in the abduction, rape, and indecent assault of an adolescent girl suffering from Down's syndrome were offered bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. Although only one of the accused was brought before the court on the day, bail was offered, each offered $100,000 bail with surety on strict conditions. October 19 has been set as the next mention date. A curfew was ordered in effect which states that neither of the accused are to be seen on the road later than 6 p.m. Also, they are to report to the Elleston Road Police Station on Saturdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. It is alleged that on the day of the incident, both accused were a part of a group of boys who made sexual approaches to a number of girls who were travelling in a group. The Crown is further alleging that the advances of the boys were rebuffed by their female companions. The boys then attempted to coerce the girls to do 'certain' things. The girls refused and made their escape leaving behind another girl who was not able to elude the boys in time as she reportedly suffers from Down's syndrome. Subsequently, she was allegedly abducted, raped and assaulted by the boys. It is understood that the accused were returning from a bike show in their community at the time of the incident. |
