14-y-o raped on cruise ship - Cops arrest Jamaican
Crystal Harrison, Star Writer

A Jamaican man who reportedly admitted to having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl on a cruise claiming that he was under the impression that she was a 16-year-old has been indicted on a single count of sexual abuse of a minor.

He is Royal Caribbean employee Fabian Palmer, 25, a pool attendant for the cruise line.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, Palmer has been accused of taking the girl into a men's locker room and having sexual intercourse with her.

It is reported that Palmer first befriended the girl and her family before allegedly raping her and only stopped when another employee knocked on the locker room door.

The girl was reportedly on holiday with her family at the time, and the incident happened just days before Christmas.

THE STAR understands that the victim and her family departed Baltimore, Maryland, for the Royal Caribbean cruise on December 17.

She told authorities that the encounter with Palmer started when she was alone on the deck. He took her inside a men's locker room and started having sex with her. She added that another employee knocked on the door and he stopped.

A complaint filed with the US District Court says that CCTV footage caught Palmer, the girl and another staffer outside the locker room around the time of the incident.

THE STAR understands that the Jamaican was interviewed by Royal Caribbean Cruises' staff and admitted to having sexual relations with the girl.

However, he claims to have been under the impression that she was 16, rather than 14.

Palmer was indicted on January 11.
