Constable on corruption charge offered bail

Special Constable Winston Minzie of the New Kingston police post was offered $100,000 bail on Wednesday when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

Special Constable Minzie was arrested on January 18 by members of the Anti-Corruption Branch after he allegedly solicited and accepted a sum of money in order not to charge a civilian whom he had searched and found with an offensive weapon. Minzie was subsequently charged on January 24.

He is scheduled to reappear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on February 28.
