Lawyer on fraud rap gets bail extension

A lawyer accused of fraudulent conversion of $25 million had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

His name is Sheldon Codner of a Kingston address. His case was mentioned for March 6, as the accused has two separate matters in court and both were mentioned for that day.

It is alleged that Codner received $25 million from the complainant to purchase an unfurnished house. The lawyer instead told the complainant to forward the money to his account and he would in turn pay the house vendor's lawyer.

The complainant, however, learned from the vendor's lawyer that no money was received for the purchase of the house. When The complainant approached the attorney, he was told that his money would be refunded.

The complainant reportedly received $9 million but, had to pay another $25 million in order for the deal to go through.
