After dispute ... Hot oil thrown on sleeping brother
A dispute involving two brothers fighting over who should occupy a room at a family property in Kingston resulted in one being seriously burnt, as one reportedly threw hot oil on the other in his sleep.

The accused, a 50-year-old taxi operator, has been charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and is on $150,000 bail.

He is to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on February 28 when the matter will be mentioned, as the file is incomplete.

Allegations are that, in November, the complainant was asleep in his room when he reportedly felt heat coming from his body.

The court heard that the complainant, who then jumped out of his sleep, was just in time to see the accused, his brother, running through the hall-way of the house.

The complainant, who realised that he had been doused with hot oil, later reported the matter to the police and the accused was subsequently arrested and charged.

It is reported that the complainant suffered several injuries as a result of the incident.
