Photos land labourer back in police custody

A Portmore man who reportedly took photos of the presiding resident magistrate (RM) after getting his bail extended was taken back into custody.

He is Kaiso Scarlette, a labourer from Garveymeade.

The accused had faced the Spanish Town resident Magistrate's Court on charges of illegal possession of firearm and robbery.

After his bail was extended and he was about to exit the court, he used his cellular phone to take a picture of the RM. He was subsequently remanded.

THE PORTMORE STAR was informed that it is an illegal act to take photos of the court.

"It is even unlawful to take pictures of prisoners once they are within 100 metres in the precinct of the court," a lawyer revealed.

It was revealed that Scarlet could be charged with contempt of court.
