Ascot Primary hosts Wellness Fair |

Ascot Primary school,located in One North in Greater Portmore, hosted a Wellness Fair on the school grounds recently. Various companies and organisations were at hand to make their contribution to the event. The Ministry of Labour and Social Security dealt with the National Insurance Scheme and representatives from Path were available for those parents who needed the service. The Jamaica Money Market Brokers handed out information on a number of services including insurance, savings, stocks and bonds. Victoria Mutual Building Society gave information on budgeting and pensions plans for parents. Also at hand were the Diabetes Association of Jamaica and GoGSAT, an online site that helps students to prepare for the Grade Six Achievement Test. The St Catherine Health Department and the Greater Portmore Health Centre (GPHC) were also on board caring for the well-being of the children. Proper hygiene The St Catherine Health Department reiterated the fact that proper hygiene makes for good sense and did a demonstration on the correct way of wash one's hand, while the GPHC administered vaccines to students who weren't fully immunised. Cal's Manufacturing company had the children refreshed with 'snow cones' and water. Also giving contributions were National Bakery, Wisynco and Catherine Peak, which supplied water. Claudia Scott, coordinator of the event, said it was good and the children were well educated on the various aspects of keeping themselves healthy.
