Cop released from hospital after gun attack |

|
The Police Constable who was shot and injured early Saturday morning during a gun attack by well-armed criminals in Spanish Town has since been released from hospital. The constable was hospitalised shortly after the gun attack. Attempts to ascertain where on his body the constable was hit and which police unit he is attached to were unsuccessful. The injured cop was part of a team patrolling on Spanish Town Road when the incident occurred after they indicated to the driver of a Noah van to stop. The driver, along with three persons who were in the vehicle, disembarked and immediately opened gunfire on the police team in a bid to escape. spent shells Sixteen AK-47, 18 M-16 and 26 9mm spent shells were recovered from the scene of the incident. Following the reported attack, the Police High Command lauded the cops who came under gunfire for their bravery and courage during the assault by criminals armed with high powered rifles and other weapons. |
