Rasbert Turner, Portmore Star Writer

A Portmore man who pleaded guilty to larceny from the dwelling was remanded when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

He is Fitzmore Reid, a labourer who is accused of taking money from a residence. When Reid appeared before Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green, he admitted to having taken some of the money.

"Your honour, I am guilty of taking the money, but I am not responsible for the loss of the United States money, though," Reid told the court.

It was then decided that he would be remanded until May 8, when he will be sentenced.

The court heard that between January and May this year, the complainant left his house to which the accused had a key.

Upon his return, he realised the US$100 and J$135,000 that he had left inside the house was missing.

He checked with the accused, but was told he did not know anything about the money.

A report was made to the police and the accused was taken into custody. He was not represented when he appeared.
