Paul Crooks re-elected as president
Re-elected President Paul Crooks heads a confident executive board of the Ken's Wildflower Community Sports Club, which was installed by members at an annual general meeting (AGM), at Ken's Wildflower Restaurant and Lounge on Sunday.

Crooks is joined on the executive board by Deon Black who was returned as secretary. Also making up the executive board that had their first meeting on Wednesday are lifetime manager Lester 'Father Ken' Crooks; vice-president, Lenworth Fulton; treasurer, Noel Ingram; assistant treasurer, Charles Lewis and assistant secretary, Gordon Wright. This executive body will meet and select seven members to be a part of the executive board. Their mandate is for two years.

The AGM was a special one as the club is celebrating its 10th year of doing service to the Portmore community. The members act as mentors to the youths in society. According to Crooks, a number of the youths who play in the Milo Under 15 Cricket League for the club "are the less fortunate among us. The youths are given breakfast, lunch and are transported back home".

The president said he is proud of the cricket team's management and coaching staff, including Cebert Mitchell who worked alongside Lester Crooks to see that the youths are properly provided for. The club has won both at the junior and senior levels in the Portmore Metropolitan Cricket League.

However, they also have an active domino team that plays in two competitions, and a netball team that participates mainly in rallies in different parts of the island. The club is desirous to register for the JNA League next season.

Meanwhile, at the AGM it was disclosed that Randell Gibson, the outgoing treasurer, didn't wish to seek to be re-elected due to work commitments.

A number of very important persons were at the function and offered their congratulations to the club.

The list included member of parliament (MP) for South St Catherine, Fitz Jackson; MP for South East St Catherine Colin Fagan; newly elected Mayor of Portmore George Lee; Deputy Superintendent Horace Millingen, shift commander at the Portmore Police Station and Billy Heaven, chief executive officer of the CHASE Fund.
