Farmer killed

Up to press time last night, the St Catherine Major Investigation Task Force was still searching for the person(s) responsible for the killing of a farmer in Farm Hill in Sligoville.

Police have identified the dead man as Percival Forbes, 49, from Farm Hill.

Police reports are that about 2 p.m. on Saturday, explosions were heard. Residents, upon checking, found Forbes' body in a pool of blood inside the house.

When The Star visited the quiet farming community shortly after the killing, residents expressed shock and sadness about Forbes' death.

"Bwoy when mi hear sey a Percy mi could not believe. That is why mi nuh go look pon the body yet, them wicked man," Marveleen Bernard, a resident said.

"I got a call that gunmen kick down the door and kill him. I heard is someone else them come for but is him them ketch," Forbes' twin brother Lloyd told THE STAR. He described his brother as a very hard-working person who does farming for a living.

Police, who discovered a number of spent shells at the crime scene, told THE STAR they have not identified any suspect in connection with the killing, but are investigating certain leads.
