A 50-year-old woman who is believed to have sold guns to members of a Jamaican gang was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the United States. Melissa Towana Wood was also sentenced to three years of supervised release in Atlanta's federal court on Tuesday. According to US-based website, www.ammoland.com, Wood came to the investigators' attention when they learned that she may have been selling weapons to the Jamaican gang members. It is also reported that court documents revealed that during the course of one month, Wood sold 14 firearms to a confidential informant, who was working with federal agents. Wood also told the informant she had access to many more guns and hand grenades. She pleaded guilty in February to dealing in firearms without a licence and soliciting a murder-for-hire. |
