New court date for mother on child-cruelty rap |

A return-to-court date of June 8 was set in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court, following a matter involving a mother, who is charged with unlawful wounding and cruelty to a child. She was accused of hitting the juvenile in the head with a piece of board. She is Sandy South. hit in the head The court heard that South and the complainant, her daughter, was involved in an altercation during which a board was used to hit the child in the head. South told Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey she had been speaking to her child for years, but the child would not listen. It was revealed in court that the child comes home late, steals items and goes to boys' house. The father alleged that the child had been locked out of the house by the mother. Both South and the father, who accompanied the young complainant, started to argue, much to the annoyance of the senior resident Magistrate. She told both parents that whatever grouses they had with each other should not interfere with the upbringing of the child. Both parties are to return to court in early June. |
