Preliminary hearing for lesbian accused of murder

A date for a preliminary hearing was set in the case involving the female cop who is accused of luring her female lover into bushes and chopping her with a machete.

Shanalee Lindsay, who has been charged with attempted murder, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Lindsay's bail was extended until July 24, for a preliminary hearing.

It is alleged that the female cop attacked her lover along Industrial Terrace in Kingston and tried to end her life because her lover decided to end their relationship.

The incident reportedly took place on March 23 sometime after 10 a.m., when Lindsay told the complainant to follow her to Industrial Terrace to hide something in the bushes.

Both women, who were said to be living nearby in an apartment, reportedly walked to Industrial Terrace where the accused left the complainant and went into the bushes.

Allegations are that sometime after, the complainant, who had earlier told the accused that she met a man and wanted to end their relationship, went to check on the accused and was attacked and chopped on her hands and chin with a machete.

The injured complainant reportedly ran from the bushes and was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital by police officers who were alerted by a passer-by.

Lindsay was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
