Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

A man who has been charged with rape, 18 years after it is alleged that he began molesting a child, had his bail extended when he appeared in court on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old accused appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.

When the case was mentioned the defence was told the matter would be put off. The defence attorney asked for an August 21 mention date and this was agreed to.

The allegations before the court are that the complainant, who is now 22 years old, was sexually molested constantly between the age of four and 14 years old.

A report was made to the police recently and following an investigation the accused was charged with rape.
