|||||
![]() Unfinished houses being robbed THE STAR has learnt that thieves have been targeting the new units in Union Gardens Estate, Twickenham Park, St Catherine, with at least eight houses being broken into recently. Checks made at the Central Village Police Station revealed that the robberies are being confined to that housing scheme. Reports are that the thieves have been entering the unfinished houses and stealing fixtures and other items. " I can tell you, thieves have gone into the unfinished houses and removed bathroom and other fixtures from them," a policeman said. THE STAR was informed that there are currently about 50 unoccupied houses there. When asked about how the matter is being dealt with, the police said that a collaborative effort is being used. "We have stepped up the patrols in the area and the private security are helping in this regard, as,we must protect life and property," Operation Officer for St Catherine South, Superintendent Clive Blair said. Meanwhile, some residents of the housing scheme said it is hoped that the matter will be addressed by the police. The houses are located close to the offices of the National Housing Trust in Twickenham Park. - RT |
