Jamaican accused of fatally stabbing wife's lover pleads not guilty |

|
A Jamaican man accused of stabbing his wife's 21-year-old lover to death then stabbing the woman multiple times after he flew into a jealous rage pleaded not guilty and claimed self-defence in court on Thursday.
According to a report in the Tribune, 45-year-old Michael Scott is being tried for murder and attempted murder in the Supreme Court in the Bahamas. Reports are that the incident happened on December 20, 2009. Scott, who resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, said that he went to Nassau to spend time with his family and make up with his estranged wife. While driving from a service station, it is alleged that he saw his wife walking along the roadway with the now deceased. Further reports are that Scott got out of the car and approached the woman in an effort to get her into the vehicle. The court heard that in his original statement to the police, Scott said that the deceased took a tyre wrench out of the passenger's side of the car, and proceeded to break out one of the windows. attacked The deceased he said then proceeded to attack him. He claimed that in his defence he held up a knife to ward off the attacks that struck him and his wife a couple of times. Nevertheless, the prosecution argued that Scott fled the scene after the incident then tossed the knife somewhere between Palm Beach Street and Prince Charles where he gave up the chase with police. On Thursday, the prosecution closed its case against the accused and the defence opened its case with Scott volunteering to testify under oath. A jury is to reach a verdict in the matter. |
