Bureau launches probe into teen's shooting

The Bureau of Special Investigations and the Independent Commission of Investigations have launched a probe into the fatal shooting of a teenager by the police on Monday.

Dead is Romeo Brown, 15, of Windsor Heights, Central Village, St Catherine.

He was one of two men who allegedly shot at the police, who returned the fire and he was hit.

Reports are that about 3 p.m. on Monday, police were on patrol in Windsor Heights. Upon reaching a section of the community, the police said they accosted two males who were acting suspiciously.

The police came under fire from the men. The fire was returned and the men ran in separate directions. Brown was later found suffering from gunshot wounds.

Meanwhile, some residents said there was no shoot-out.

The area was visited by Denise Daley, MP, who said a thorough investigation is needed in the matter.

Up to press time, investigators were still collecting details on the incident.
