PDTC hosts seventh season of dance |

|
The Portmore Dance Theatre Company (PDTC), more popularly known as the Portmore Dancers, will this evening and tomorrow night host their seventh season of dance at the Portmore HEART Academy. A fair sized crowd is expected to attend the event as the PDTC has won numerous awards at the National Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's (JCDC) finals over the years. Action gets underway at 6 p.m. each evening. A special jubilee of dance marking back to 50 years ago, in recognition of Jamaica50 Independence, will bring a grand finale to the show. The PDTC, established in January 2002, has been through a great number of transitions to be what it is today. Starting out as a dance group, the Portmore Dancers, under the leadership of Anthony Carson, Nahjah Campbell and Floyd Carson, has grown to be a well-rounded organisation that is mainly focused on cultural welfare and awareness. The Portmore Dancers began exercising new ways of making a mere dance group into an active cultural group; a group with a more impressive name, one that satisfies the creative culture and artistic abilities to include not only dance but also speech and drama. They are now a household name and attract large crowds at their concerts. |
