Businessmen face illicit drug rap

Charges have been laid against two St Andrew businessmen suspected to be major players in the illicit drug trade.

Winston Grayham, 50, and Franklyn Thompson, 52, were charged with drug trafficking and money laundering on Thursday night.

They were arrested following a major anti-narcotics raid last week Sunday. Two other suspects held in the operation were released.

Police said nearly 30 pounds of cocaine and more than $20 million were seized in the operation.

Reports said police intercepted a vehicle along Deanery Drive in Vineyard Town, St Andrew, and seized the drugs believed to have a street value of more than $30 million.

The cops then went to Grayham's home in Smokey Vale, St Andrew, where a 2012 BMW motor car and $17 million were seized.

Following this they went to Thompson's home on Deanery Drive where millions of dollars were found under his bed.

In the meantime, four other high-end motor vehicles, a licenced 9mm firearm and 36 rounds of ammunition were also seized. Both men will appear in court tomorrow.
