One person was taken into custody on Sunday in connection with the seizure of a Tanfoglio 9mm pistol and a magazine containing 13 rounds on the Mango Valley main road in St Mary.

Reports are that about 1 a.m., a police team was conducting an operation in the area when the driver of a motor truck was signalled to stop.

During a subsequent search, the firearm with its serial number erased and the ammunition were found.

The identity of the man is being withheld pending further investigations.

Investigations are ongoing.
