42 girls make first cut for ...Miss Teen Portmore pageant

Fourty-two girls made the first cut during an elimination show and after party for the Miss Teen Portmore pageant at the Portmore Pines Plaza on Friday, June 29.

According to an executive member of Octron Promotions, the main organiser of the show, this number will be furthered reduced to 30, and the girls will be sashed at a private gathering next week.

More than 1,000 patrons attended the elimination show and they were entertained by upcoming acts such as Dwayne Smith to whom the girls took a special liking and pop singer Nicole Johnson, who sang Nelly Furtado's I'm Like A Bird.

Top five contestant in this year's Magnum Kings and Queens competition, Alabama, also performed, pelting lyrics from his musical repertoire, and the Miss Teen Portmore dancers created quite a stir.

Flava Unit sound system kept the vibes alive and the crowd, made up mainly of young people, danced the night away.

Meanwhile, the chosen girls are scheduled to make appearances at Ken's Wildflower Restaurant and Lounge and Exquisite Lounge, located in Greater Portmore.
