Windies look for another win |

![]() Sammy ![]() Jermaine Lannaman, Star Writer No changes are expected to the West Indies team heading into today's second Digicel one-day international series clash against New Zealand at Sabina Park. The showdown, which is slated to bowl off at 9:30 a.m., will see the West Indies looking to continue where they left off on Thursday when led by a Man-of-the-Match performance from all-rounder Andre Russell, they were able to stroll to a nine-wicket win. "We will look to come out, most likely with the same team on Saturday, and aim to go 2-0 up series," said a pleased-looking Darren Sammy. "It was very good to restrict New Zealand for under 200 runs on that pitch in the first match and the way we went about achieving our target was quite professional. "It is now for us to come out yet again and put in a similar display." The West Indies, who are also coming off a 2-0 whitewash over Kiwis in their preceding Twenty20 International series in the USA, is likely to leave out returning fast bowler Tino Best and 23-year-old Windward Islands opener Johnson Charles from their 13-man squad. explosive potential This means that Lendl Simmons, who made a 12-ball duck in the first game, and whose form has been disappointing in recent matches, is likely to get another chance to solidify his place at the top of the order with Chris Gayle. Simmons will, however, know that despite his experience and explosive potential a failure yet again could make room for Charles heading into the third match, which along with the fourth and fifth fixtures will be played at Warner Park, St Kitts. Another feature of an unchanged starting 11 would see 24-year-old Russell, who claimed four for 45 off his 10 overs after picking up a shoulder injury in the Twenty20s, keeping his place ahead of the live-wire Best, who after a fairly successful return to the Test cricket last month, is looking to make a breakthrough in the one-day team. Selections apart, Gayle, who has made half centuries in four of his five innings since returning to international cricket last month, will be looking to improve on his 57-ball 63 in the first match, and should Dwayne Smith, who top-scored with 65 off 77 balls, Marlon Samuels, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard come good, the Black Caps could be in for another rough outing. The Kiwis, on the other hand, are likely to make a few changes to their starting 11 as they seek to at least stem their batting of the opening tour games, despite only having reserve wicketkeeper, Tom Latham, as the only other batsman in their squad. Thirty-year-old wicketkeeper batsman Brendan McCallum, arguably the best they have to offer, is being "rested" for the first Twenty20 and one-day leg of the tour, albeit, there are reports that he is set to rejoin the team "midway" the tour batsman, regular captain and lead batsman Ross Taylor is injured, and is set to be out for at least a week. |
