Beautiful Christian marriage

When Reverend David Roomes, pastor at the Emmanuel Missionary Church in Mandeville, Manchester, asked the well over 140 specially invited guests at the wedding ceremony for teachers Kirk Davis and Stacy-Ann Reid of the Alston High School in Clarendon, to stand for the entrance of the bride, it was 2:52 p.m.

With giveaway father John Hosey at her side, Reid marched in with a most pleasant smile, decked in traditional white laced gown with a long trail; and with a lovely veil on her head and silver earrings to complement her gown.

The beautiful and petite Reid's smile got even brighter when she was halfway down the aisle and saw her groom coming towards her to take her hand and lead her to the altar, in front of Reverend David Roomes and Reverend Ruben Gray, who officiated the ceremony; it was 2:55 p.m.

Reverend Roomes started the ceremony with the reading of a few verses of scripture, before he asked who brought Reid to be married to Davis. John Hosey, the giveaway father, did not hesitate to shout, 'I do', and the many guests laughed. All that took place after the well-known song In Your Hand was sung and the lovely couple prayed for. Another passage of scripture was read from Ephesians 5:22-33 by Natalie Honeyghan.

Reverend Roomes in his remarks congratulated the bride and the groom on the important step they have taken to be married as man and wife. He also told the many guests that Davis and Reid complimented each other well; and prophesied that the two, who are both Christians, will have a beautiful marriage.

At 3:10 p.m. Davis, when asked if he would take Stacy-Ann to be his lawfully wedded wife, did not hesitate to say 'I do', loudly. When the question was asked of Stacy-Ann if she would have Kirk to be her lawfully wedded husband, she said even louder, 'I will'.

Reverend Roomes then blessed wedding rings for the two before asking them to place them on each other's finger, to loud applause from the appreciative crowd. By 3:20 p.m. the new Mr and Mrs Davis were pronounced man and wife by Reverend Rooms, bringing much applause once more.

As has always been requested at weddings, Reverend Rooms asked Mr and Mrs Davis to kiss in the public for the first time; and also before they were asked to kneel at the altar to have Reverend Ruben Gray pray for them.

Before that, Reverend Gray charged them to be there for each other, and asked them to take a leaf out of the books of those married couples who have been living a good life and enjoying successful marriages for years. Gray also told the newly-weds to place their marriage in the hands of God; and said he was convinced that their life together will be a success.

The two were then asked to sign the marriage register in the vestry, while a musical prelude took place for the guests to be entertained. Before the musical prelude was through the new Mr and Mrs Davis marched out of the vestry with broad smiles, before Mrs Davis was presented with her marriage certificate by Reverend Roomes.

The two, along with members of the bridal party, then marched out of the church for video shots and photographs, before moving on to the reception at Heritage Hall in Mandeville. The witty master of ceremonies was well-known educator Alphansus Davis, who is also an uncle of the groom.
