CURTIS CAMPBELL, STAR Writer
Extatic Fridays, hosted at the UDC Car Park in New Kingston, delivered exciting music and affordable alcohol; however, the male to female ratio was very unbalanced for one of the most-promoted stagings. It was advertised that males and females would be admitted to the event free before midnight, but when THE STAR arrived at minutes after 11 p.m. many patrons were stuck at the gate due to the screening by the security personnel. DJ Ali Patch was playing and he drew hip hop selections such as A Millie by Lil Wayne and Riding by Chamillionaire. However, the excitement came when the DJ played Cake Soap by Vybz Kartel. The room, comprised of mostly young people, literally came to life. Ali Patch, apparently noticing this, played more Kartel singles such as Pon Di Gaza and Send A Hell. DJ Karisma followed and he took a different path with his juggling. He played several dancing songs, Ding Dong's Bad Man Forward, Beenie Man's Row Like A Boat and Stookie, which had the patrons participating. The few males who had partners were seen dancing; however, those who weren't so lucky simply looked on. |
