Jamaican arrested for murder in North Carolina |

A 28-year-old Jamaican man who was wanted in the United States for the 2009 murder of a soldier in North Carolina has been arrested.
He is Tobijah Nelson who was accosted by law enforcement officials on Wednesday. According to reports on the US-based website, www.wral.com, Nelson has been in the US illegally. He has been charged with accessory after the fact to the murder as well as the injury of another soldier, who was the victim's friend. Nelson is being held without bond at a correctional facility awaiting extradition to North Carolina. Further reports are that on March 29, 2009, he and an accomplice, 24-year old Demar Bryan, were at a club in Lake Spring, North Carolina, when a fight developed. It is reported that the solider, who was a patron, was reportedly shot to death by Bryan while on the dance floor. The soldier was home on leave from Afghanistan and due to return to war the following week. It is reported that the soldier's friend was also injured in the gunfire. Bryan was arrested and later extradited to North Carolina, and is currently awaiting trial on murder charges. |
