The Waterford Police in St Catherine seized a pistol and several rounds of ammunition at the Portmore Fishing Village in Waterford in the parish on Wednesday. One man is now in custody in connection with the seizure.

Reports from the Waterford police are that about 7:40 a.m., the police conducted an operation at the village, during which a group of people were searched and the firearm - a Ruger 9mm pistol - and a magazine containing 11 rounds were taken from the man.

His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
