East Portmore Portals hammered last year's beaten finalist, Bridgeport, 7-0 as the Pines Imaging Centre-sponsored Portmore U-17 Football League kicked off at the Passagefort field with a dress parade and a double-header.

Fitz Albert Chambers struck a hat-trick of goals, while there was a strike each from Demetri Dunkley, Robert Barker, Lamar Hooks, and Damone Gutzmore, which gave Portals the handsome win.

Bridgeport struggled to stay in the contest in the first half, and poor shooting by the Portals attackers kept the score at 1-0.

But as the game progressed, Portals gained confidence and the Bridgeport defence wilted. The second half was full of goals, a pleasant sight to behold for coach, Patrick Dunkley, who formed the club a few years ago.

In the day's opening game, defending champion Rodwood turned back Watson Grove 2-0.

The competition continues next Tuesday.
