This will be done with the setting up of the Jamaica 50 Village near the Portmore Mall. The Portmore Star was informed that the village would be packed with activities. "We will be having gospel artistes from all over Portmore entertaining on August 5, with Fab Five doing the honours on August 6," Councillor Keith Blake said. Church vigils It was revealed that other activities such as church vigils would be held as part of the celebrations. Mayor George Lee said the Portmore Municipality was very much part of Jamaica's milestones. A number of residents told The Portmore Star the celebrations meant a great deal to them, but others expressed reservations. "With all the development and celebrations, yet still we don't have no hospital, no proper market. We need to get these things in the development plans," Marcus Douglas said. His views were echoed by others.
