Portmore United get their day |

![]() The energy is high on a motorcade during Portmore United Day last Saturday. - Anthony Minott photos Portmore United Football Club enjoyed their day in the sun after they were cheered on and treated as royalty by people and dignitaries in the Portmore Municipality last Saturday. Portmore are the reigning Red Stripe Premier League champions. Three trailers transported players, supporters and contestants in the Miss Teen Portmore pageant across different communities in the sunshine city in a jubilant motorcade. Waterford-based Flava Unit sound system ramped up the celebrations with music from their speaker boxes as the motorcade passed through the communities of Greater Portmore, Braeton, Cedar Grove, Naggo Head, Independence City, Waterford, among others. Marching band A marching band and the Impulse girls added flavour to the celebrations. The motorcade terminated at the Portmore Mall where a concert was held. In attendance were Mayor of Portmore George Lee; Jamaica Football Association's General Secretary Horace Reid; president of the St Catherine FA, Peter Reid; and president of the Portmore Football League, Leander Marshall. The festivities were put on by the Portmore Municipal Council and is part of the Portmore Jamaica 50 Independence celebrations.
