An 18-year-old man facing charges for illegal possession of ammunition was granted $100,000 bail on Wednesday when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court. He is Romario Walker, of a Corporate Area address. He was ordered to give his fingerprints to the police. The court heard that on the day of the incident, the police were heading to a premises in the Kingston 12 area when Walker was seen. The officer beckoned to Walker to stop and he complied. The accused was searched, however nothing illegal was discovered. Walker's house was also searched and a live round was discovered under a bed. When the police made enquiries into the find, Walker denied having known it was there and told officers that his uncle had owned the house previously. Walker's attorney also denied the allegations brought against her client and mentioned another incident in which the accused had been alleged to have been involved but was not identified and that this second incident was an attempt to pin another matter on her client. Subsequent to this, Senior RM Fraser granted the accused man bail with conditions of reporting to the Trench Town police station on Wednesdays between the hours of 6 a.m.-6 p.m. and curfew hours of 6 a.m.-6 p.m. The matter will be brought up for mention on September 10. |
