Residents want probe into death of mechanic |

Residents of Alma district in Westmoreland are appealing to the Police High Command and INDECOM to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting of a man by the police on Thursday. Dead is 21-year-old mechanic Randy Allwood. Residents say Allwood was killed while he was taking a shower at an outdoor pipe. Nevertheless, the police say that he was killed in a shoot-out. One eyewitness told THE STAR that the police entered the premises and ordered a number of women and children into a house. lying on ground Shortly after gunshots were allegedly heard, Allwood was seeing lying on the ground outside. The residents claim the police then threw him into the trunk of the car they were driving while he was still alive. The residents say they want an investigation to be carried out because of the excessive brutality and also because the evidence was tampered with. |
