COPS CHARGE PROMOTER
Leighton Levy, STAR Writer

Hans Mullings, the promoter of Miami J'ouvert, one of the parties that was held during the Independence weekend, in Negril, is to appear in the Savanna-la-Mar Resident Magistrate's Court today, charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

The charges stem from an incident on Sunday night when it is alleged that he attacked and assaulted 24-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident Nesreteri Pomalo on the streets of Negril, just outside the party venue.

The promoter was charged after a report was made to the police that Pomalo was assaulted shortly before 8 p.m. on Sunday, while she was leaving a party and heading back to her hotel.

When contacted by THE STAR, the Constabulary Communication Network confirmed that Mullings had been arrested and was granted bail.

The Negril police also confirmed the allegations and told THE STAR that the matter was reported.

"We have a report of assault occasioning bodily harm and the Negril police have taken action," said the Assisant Superindent of Police Ryan Gayle.

Gayle said that the police noticed an injury to the complainant's elbow but were unable to say what caused it.
