Accused cop bail extended

The policeman who has been accused of violently attacking a woman because she accused him of indulging in oral sex had his bail extended until August 20 when he appeared in court yesterday.

Gary Messam, who is attached to the Flying Squad, appeared before Resident Magistrate (RM) Georgiana Fraser in the Corporate Area RM Court.

The court heard that the medical certificate is still outstanding. Interestingly, the complainant was noticeably absent from court.

Allegations are that on Saturday, July 28, the complainant, Nickesha Johnson, was assaulted while at a party in Fletcher's Land, central Kingston.

It is being alleged that the party was in full swing when the complainant was attacked by the cop.

The victim was said to have received several kicks to the face and head and had to be rushed to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was hospitalised.

Messam is being represented by attorney-at-law Tameka Harris.
