A businessman, who has been charged in connection with the beheading of the mother of his child, was remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is 48-year-old Trevor Taff from Havendale, St Andrew. Taff, who is also accused of dumping the woman's body in a septic pit, is to return to court on September 4, as the post-mortem is still outstanding. further testing The investigating officer informed the court that further testing is also being carried out to determine the true identity of the woman. Despite that, defence attorney Christian Tavares-Finson argued that the case first came before the court in May and as such the documents should be disclosed. The presiding magistrate then ordered that the documents be served on the defence before the matter returns. It is alleged that earlier this year, Nicole Herron, a 26-year-old haggler, caught the accused in a compromising position with another male. On April 3, he allegedly invited the woman to his Havendale home but when she did not return to her home relatives filed a missing persons' report. On May 5, the police acting on information went to Taff's house where several articles of burnt female clothing were allegedly discovered. Further search led the police to a septic pit where a headless body believed to be that of Herron was found. The body reportedly had multiple stab wounds. The police said that Taff, who was arrested the following day, is also being investigated in connection with the disappearance of two other persons from his home. |
